Operators often classify three broad types of network traffic-Sensitive, Best-effort, and Undesired. Categorizing the traffic helps in better management of the bandwidth. It is an automated process that categories traffic according to various parameters like port number or protocol resulting in a better traffic treatment in order to differentiate the service implied for data generator or consumer.
